Furthermore, the vessel which is sailed in the SECA(Sulfur Emission Area) was already applied a sulfur content of Vessel’s Fuel Oil by below 1% since 2010, all oceans around the world will be regulated to use a fuel oil with a sulfur content of less than 0.5% upcoming from 2020.
Summary of Scrubber System
In order to application of IMO’s MARPOL73/78, Technology has been developed to eliminate sulfur dioxide (SO2) that occurs after fuel oil combustion instead of changing the vessels fuel oil from high-sulfur to low-sulfur fuel oil, it has been started to be installed by each Major makers around world.
Especially, large vessels, unlike small vessels, are considered to be much more economical to install scrubber
than to change high-sulfur fuel oil into low-sulfur fuel oil. According to the Energy company, the investment
Cost can be recovered for three to four years depending on the their scenario of fuel oil cost.
